Auction Results: July 2023

Michael Bowman's July 2023 auction at Chudleigh was notable for three lots that reached five-figure sums, helping to make this event one of the most successful in the auctioneer's 37 years of business.

A 1966 Rolex Submariner had been in the same ownership since new and attracted four telephone bidders with a tempting estimate of £8,000-12,000.  A local collector frustrated all outside interest,  claiming his eventual prize for a bid of £14,500.

An art deco diamond set platinum brooch was unsigned, but so snugly fitted into a Cartier box , that many believed it to be a perfectly genuine Cartier piece.  It sold for a double estimate £13,000 to an internet bidder from London.

A 2.5 carat diamond solitaire came with a Belgian Lab Report stating the colour to be 'E', the second highest grading possible.  This attracted telephone bidders from dealers in London and Dubai, but a local couple prevailed with their winning bid of £16,500.
