Auction Preview June 1st
A magnificent Chinese lacquered screen is bound to impress in Michael Bowman's 2pm auction at Chudleigh Town Hall next Saturday 1st June. The eight folding panels stand 8ft high and span no less than 16ft! The front is painted with an extensive view of a palace and its grounds with numerous figures on the terraces and horseman with sentries outside the palace walls. The reverse shows birds in flight amidst bamboo shoots on a dark ground. The estimate of £2,000-3,000 seems well deserved.
Two good 1970's gent's Rolex watches will also be on offer with estimates of £8,000-12,000. One an 18ct gold Oyster Day/Date, the other a stainless steel Submariner. Each comes with its box and original paperwork from when they were purchased new in Exeter. The Submariner has had only one previous owner.
The jewellery will feature a pair of Burmese ruby and diamond cluster earrings and a natural 5 carat Ceylon sapphire & diamond ring with estimates of £2,000-3,000. A handsome Victorian sapphire and diamond bangle has similar hopes.
