Sale Preview: May 31st 2025
Michael Bowman's 2pm auction at Chudleigh Town Hall next Saturday 31st May will include a large collection of royal commemorative china. Many such items hold little commercial value in today's market but the range on offer is so great that collectors might find something to fill a gap here and there! One of the earliest occasions celebrated is the 1858 marriage of the Princess Royal to the Prince of Prussia. Many pieces are Doulton and amongst the more recent examples are the 11 Bunnykins mugs commemorating the birth of Prince William in 1982.
Back in the mainstream, jewellery will feature a certified 3.3 carat Burmese red spinel and diamond cluster ring which looks for bids of £3,000-4,000.
A large pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings come in their S.J. Phillips box, with ambitions of £4,000-6,000. An elegant old cut diamond set platinum bracelet in a Goldsmiths and Silversmiths box should attract interest in the region of £3,000-4,000.
A selection of watches is led by the stainless steel Rolex Explorer II G Series gent's watch, estimated at £5,000-7,000. Not far behind at £4,000-6,000 estimate, is the 1983 Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust with original box and paperwork.
The sale is on view next Friday evening 30th May at Chudleigh between 4pm and 7:30pm and from 10:30am on auction day.
