Gent's 18ct Gold Audemars Piguet Wrist Watch Estimate £7,000-10,000 on September 25th Auction

Michael Bowman's 2pm auction at Chudleigh Town Hall on Saturday 25th September promises a range of interesting items.

One of the stars of the day will be the Audemars Piguet 18ct gold gent's wrist watch which has recently been serviced and fitted with a new mainspring.  This Perpetual Calendar model  with rectangular  moonphase dial, comes in its original box and has hopes for bids in the region of £7,000-10,000.

Other watches in the sale will include Rolex 'his and hers' bi-metal Datejust Oysters from a Torquay estate.  The lady's example comes in its box with an estimate of £1,000-1,500.  The gent's is for a small wrist size and anticipates bids of £1,000-1,500.

In the jewellery section, an oval natural Ceylon sapphire & diamond cluster ring, boasts a sapphire weighing 3.03 carats and is estimated at £2,000-3,000.  A large selection of other jewellery items will also be on offer.

Several paintings of note will be included.  Local artist, Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002), is represented by his portrait of Belinda Nash in brown coat.  This unsigned canvas, measuring 24" square, was bought in the 2004 sale of the artist's studio and is now realistically estimated at £600-900.  From the same vendor, comes a small oil and collage on paper by Sir Terry Frost RA (1915-2003), entitled 'Three Teardrops'.  Bids of £1,500-2,000 are anticipated.

From much further afield,  a strident oil on board by the Russian artist Konstantin Korovin (1861-1939), expects £5,000-7,000.  This painter is better known for his snow-laden street scenes, but 'Winter Landscape with Troika' is unusual  in being depicted by moonlight.

The sale will be on view at Chudleigh Town Hall between 4pm and 7:30pm Friday evening, 24th September and on the morning of the auction from 10:30am.  For catalogues and enquiries tel 01626 324071
