GEORGIAN MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK - £2,900

This bell-chiming bracket clock with enamel dial by Charles Absolon of London, climbed well above its £700-1,000 estimate when fought over by several telephone bidders in Michael Bowman's October 2010 sale. EASTERN SPICE BOX MAKES £1,500

One of the more unusual entries at Chudleigh in October was a domed Mughul silver spice jar. This probably dated from around 1800, resembling a small cheese dish, the cover sat on a circular tray stand, with overall enamelled decoration of foliage and animals. This sold to a Berkshire telephone bidder.

Jewellery included an art deco style emerald & diamond ring at £3,000. A gent's Rolex bi-metal Oyster Perpetual Datejust wrist watch sold for £2,000 to a Cornish bidder.

The picture highlight was the small oil on board by Fred Yates, 10" x 10", depicting numerous figures before a row of houses, 'Returning Home', which was bought by a London telephone bidder for £1,900.

Other furniture entries included the 11 feet long refectory table of uncertain date which sold to a Cotswolds telephone bidder for £1,450. A tall early Victorian mahogany secretaire bookcase, stamped for Priest of Blackfriars, sold to a Plymouth bidder for £2,500.
